Housing units awarded to 57 former rebels in DavNor
November 17, 2021

BETTER HOME FOR A BETTER FUTURE. The awarding ceremony for former rebels was led by NHA XI District 1 Estate Management Chief Gerald Namoc, Deputy Brigade Commander of 1001st Infantry Brigade COL MICHAEL LICYAYO PA, and local chief executives.

Fifty-seven (57) former rebels (FRs) received housing units at the Freedom Residences, Tagum City, Davao del Norte on 15 October 2021, through a housing project spearheaded by the National Housing Authority (NHA) and Tagum City Government under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

The beneficiaries of the housing units were previously accommodated in different transitional facilities for FRs, namely Happy Home in Mati City, Davao Oriental; Kalinaw Village in Davao City; and Balay Panaghuisa at the Headquarters of the Philippine Army’s 60th Infantry Battalion in Davao del Norte.

Aside from housing units, former members of the communist terrorist group receive other forms of assistance to help them and their families in the reintegration process. Task Force Balik-Loob (TFBL) Chair Defense Undersecretary Reynaldo B. Mapagu expressed his support for and delight on the turnover.

“Nothing brings us more joy than seeing the beneficiaries of our program move towards a new journey in their lives as members of mainstream society. These housing units are not just shelters, but a foundation for a better future,” said USec. Mapagu. “I encourage other active rebels to surrender and avail of the benefits under E-CLIP.”
